RESEARCH
INTERESTS: The main focus at present is
on the use of Operations Research techniques for the sustainable utilisation of African
wildlife, particularly on game ranches. Other current research projects include the
determination of optimal cattle management strategies for semi-arid regions, the
biological control of the sugarcane pest, Eldana saccharina, and determining
freshwater requirements for estuaries. CURRENT ACTIVITIES: Contributing Editor of International Abstracts in Operations Research; Associate Editor of ORiON; Member of the Editorial Board for Ecological Modelling; Executive Secretary of the Resource Modeling Association. PAST ACTIVITIES: President (1997-1999) of the Operations Research Society of South Africa; President
