Van den Berg's Picture RESEARCH  INTERESTS:    My interests lie in Ring and Module Theory with a focus on preradical functors on a module category and topologizing filters on rings.   A basic and broadly stated objective of my research is to determine how much information relating to the internal structure of a ring is carried by its topologizing filters (or equivalently, its kernel functors). 1 have also done some work on noncommutative chain rings and notions of 'strong' primeness in rings.  The latter is inspired by and generalizes Handelman and Lawrences' concept of a strongly prime ring. 1 am currently investigating compact elements in the 'lattice' of (Amitsur-Kurosh)
radical classes.
